BEAR # 148     ARTIST: DEAN CHILDSPLAY TOYS     SOLD
Dean's produced its first teddy bears in the early 1900s in London, England.  Its Childsplay Ltd. division became Dean's Childsplay Toys in the 1960s.  This fully jointed 13" bear is part of the Schoonmaker Signature Series Inaugural Edition, created by Dean's Childsplay Toys as limited edition reproduction of noted teddy bear authority and author, Patricia N. Schoonmaker.  (She has written many books, such as Collectors History of the Teddy Bear and Old Teddy Bear Postcards.)  This is the first in the series, based on a bear first produced in America in the early 1900s.  Made of light beige mohair, this special bear has black glass eyes and black embroidered nose and mouth with a shaved muzzle.  He has felt paw pads and wears a red bow emblazoned with Patricia N. Schoonmaker's signature in raised script.
