BEAR # 167 ARTIST: LYNNE MUSSON of
BEARY SPECIAL STUFF
SOLD
Lynne Musson made
"Benjamin, the Franklin Bear"
when she lived in Franklin, Tennessee.
It was made to commemorate the founding of the city in 1799. The hang tag
says "I have my key in my hand and my kite is ready. Now I just have to
wait for a thunderstorm to prove that the lightning we see in the sky is really
electricity." Benjamin is 17" tall and wears glasses like those of his
great grandfather Benjamin Franklin. He's made of tan mohair. He has
black glass eyes, brown embroidered nose and mouth, ultra suede paw pads, and
bent legs. Fully jointed, he wears a black linen vest and a beige scarf,
and holds his key in his paw. He's marked #29 on his leather sewn in tag.
He's not marked that way, but he's part of a
limited edition that Lynne sold privately and
through a toy store in Franklin. It's very doubtful she's ever made any
more of this design, since she moved back to Michigan. You can find
patterns for her miniature bears on the internet.
Hi! I'm Benjamin.
As I've got older, I notice I
need my specs to read. Has that happened to you?
Do you hear thunder?
My key.
When I say "Go fly a kite,"
I'm just being a scientist.
My original hang tag.
