BEAR # 134 ARTIST: DEBBIE ALTMAN of
MOHICAN FOREST BEARS
SOLD
This isn't just a big bear. No, it's a VERY big bear. Debbie Altman
made this beauty before her bear business became Mohican Forest Bears.
He's 21" tall, and that's in a sitting position. Completely stretched
out, he's 29". He's fully jointed, made of long black fur. He's got
smooth brown fur on his nose and on the bottom of his paws. His paw pads
are suede, and he's got long leather claws. He has glass eyes and
embroidered nose and mouth. He wears a red and black wool shirt and a felt
hat with a feather on it. He tips the scales at about 5 and a half pounds,
so he obviously enjoys himself at the dinner table. We don't think this was a
one of a kind creation, but Debbie didn't make many of these. We do know
this was a special order in 1989.
Hi! What's your name?
I guess you could call me a
BIG bear.
My front paw. Do you
like my leather claws?
Do you like my floppy hat?
Some of the other bears call
me Big Foot. I don't know where they get that.
My back paw. Well,
maybe I do need a pedicure.
I do love to eat!
I moonlight as a bouncer.
Usually all I have to do is raise my paw.
