German immigrant Adolph Gund
started what is now the leading soft toy manufacturer in the U.S. in 1898 in
Norwalk, CT. It was one of the first companies to produce teddy bears,
back in the early 1900s. Meet Maggie, a Gund Playthings Past bear from
1983. She is 17" tall, made of a rust colored fur. Under all those
clothes, she has a cloth body. She wears a green and black plaid dress,
white pantaloons and slip, brown hose, and brown lace up boots. She also
wears a red and black scarf and carries a snazzy brown satchel. She is
unjointed, with glass eyes and brown embroidered nose. The hang tag
indicates this is "No. 8130."
