BEAR # 37 ARTIST: CAROL CARINI
designer for MARY MEYER'S GREEN MOUNTAIN BEARS
SOLD
In 1929, clothing designer Mary
Lorang married salesman Hans Meyer. Four years later they decided to start
manufacturing and selling pin cushions and dolls. A couple years later,
they added stuffed toys. In the '40s they moved to the Green Mountains of
Vermont. The company has been producing quality toys (including teddy
bears) for over 70 years. Mary herself was active in the company until the
early '80s, though she spent time at the company store well into her 90s.
This is Mansfield, an 11" bear designed by renowned bear artist Carol Carini.
He's fully jointed, with black glass eyes, embroidered nose and mouth, felt paw
pads, and a trimmed face. He is wearing a stylish knit sweater. This
bear is part of the Green Mountain Bears line produced by Mary Meyer.
