BEAR # 238 ARTIST: XAVIER ROBERTS of ORIGINAL APPALACHIAN
ARTWORKS
SOLD
Most everyone knows the story of
Xavier Roberts and his creations – Cabbage Patch Dolls and Furskin Bears.
But most people probably think of the fully dressed (and mass produced,
in quantities exceeding 200,000) Furskins issued in 1985 and
after. Roberts actually started with Debonair Bear in a run of 1,000 in
1982, and a second run of 2,500 in 1983. Humphrey Furskin, shown here,
also came along in 1983 in a
limited edition of 2,500.
He's 21" tall, with a sculptured face, brown plastic eyes, and painted on nose
and freckles. He wears a dark blue T-shirt with his name on it. He
has a little tail and sculptured pink feet. His left foot is
signed, dated, and numbered
by Roberts.
Hi! I'm Humphrey Furskin!
Don't you love my freckles?
My name's on my shirt.
See my tail?
Dated sewn in tag.
Autographed & dated
'83 by Xavier Roberts.
Limited Edition
# 1796 of 2500.
